A decline in German housing investment
July 08, 2010Over the first half of 2010, the volume of investments in multifamily residential buildings has decreased by 4.7%, compared to the preceding six-month-period, down to €2.1 billion.
Investment transactions plunged by 18.9%, while the number of residential properties acquired by investors has climbed down by 1.4%, Property Magazine International says, citing data provided by the Savills company.
At the same time, the number of large transactions (over 1000 properties) has increased to nine deals. Five of them were inked by foreigners. For comparison, 11 such deals were concluded in 2009, two of which were accounted for foreign investors.
We would like to remind you that, according to data previously published by Cushman&Wakefield, over the first half of 2009, investment in German apartment buildings has amounted to €1.58 billion, which exceeds the last year indicators by 17.9%.
