Housing construction declines in Spain
July 01, 2010The number of housing units started in QI decreased by 11%, compared to the preceding quarter.
If compared to Q1 2009, the decline has amounted to 21.7%, Spanish Property Insight says, citing data provided by the Spanish Ministry of Housing.
Over January-March, the number of completed housing units plunged by 14% in quarterly terms, while declining by 58% on annualized basis.
Regions of Catalonia, Andalucia, Castilla-La Mancha and the Canary Islands have become the leaders in terms of started housing projects. Major part of all housing projects (56% of the overall number) were completed in the regions of Andalusia, Valencia, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia and Galicia.
