Prices for Dutch secondary housing have not recovered yet

In December, the cost of housing on the local secondary market has decreased by 5.3%, year-on-year.

Over the specified period, apartment prices have climbed down by 4.3%, while falling by 6.1% and 7.2% for townhouses and detached homes, respectively, according to a joint study by the statistical and offices of the Netherlands.

Geographically, the sharpest annual decline has been registered in the provinces of Friesland and North-Brabant (6%), while the mildest decrease has been observed in the province of Groningen (3.7%).

In monthly terms, over December, secondary home prices have increased in regions of Overijssel and Zealand. However, nationwide, the figure has climbed down by 0.4%.

15 thousand property units have been sold on the Dutch secondary residential property market  in December 2009, an 8% decrease in comparison to December last year. In general, the total number of sales concluded in 2009 has worked out 127 thousand, thus, if compared to 2008, the indicator has plummeted by 30%.
